Civil Roadway Design Engineer (P.E.)

Trans Associates is seeking a passionate and skilled Civil Engineer, holding a P.E. license, with over 5 years of experience to enhance our dynamic Roadway Design team. This is an exceptional opportunity to dive into project development and bring your expertise to the forefront in plans preparation using MicroStation. You’ll be at the heart of designing or reimagining highways/roadways, multi-purpose trails, and more, ensuring our projects not only meet, but exceed expectations.

What will you do?:

As a Roadway Design Engineer you will:

  • Lead geometric roadway design initiatives in MicroStation, crafting contract documents that align with state and local agency standards.
  • Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
  •  Ensure deliverables are comprehensive, review-ready, timely, and within budget.
  • Assist with coordination of drainage design activities on highway projects
  • Perform field investigations and assessments of project sites.
  • Prepare and assist with specifications and permit submittals.
  • Assist in developing preliminary project cost estimates and evaluate quantities.
  • Be instrumental in preparing specifications, permit submissions, project cost estimates, and ensuring compliance with PennDOT standards.

Position requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering degree, coursework in highway/roadway engineering
  • PA PE licensure
  • A solid grasp of relevant codes and standards
  • Demonstrate competent use of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written – e-mails, project memos, reports, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • A positive, team-oriented individual with a strong work ethic
  • Knowledge of PennDOT methods and procedures for roadway design preferred
  • 5 years of MicroStation experience
  • Drainage, stormwater, and erosion control design experience is a plus.

Civil Engineer, E.I.T.

Trans Associates is on the lookout for an aspiring Highway/Roadway Civil Engineer, freshly graduated or with up to 5 years of experience, eager to make their mark in the world of transportation planning, traffic engineering, and design. Who We’re Looking For:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering degree and E.I.T. or ability to obtain certification within 12 months
  • PE license a plus
  • A foundational understanding of applicable codes and design standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • A positive, eager-to-learn attitude with the ability to take direction and grow from feedback.
  • Familiarity with PennDOT methods and procedures for roadway design is preferred.
  • Some experience with CAD or MicroStation.
