Robert E. Goetz P.E.
Principal/Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Goetz is an original employee of Trans Associates (TA) and has over 28 years of experience in transportation engineering. In addition to serving as the firm’s CEO and managing the overall technical and administrative functions of the Pittsburgh office, he is also responsible for overseeing the firm’s traffic engineering services.
Mr. Goetz has successfully managed a diverse mix of traffic impact studies for development projects that include retail, office, mixed-use, residential, schools, hospitals, and universities. His municipal experience includes traffic study reviews, transportation impact fee studies, ordinance reviews, speed and sight distance studies and preparing transportation funding applications. He has also managed a number of “on-call” service contracts for State Departments of Transportation. As an authority on land use transportation planning issues, Mr. Goetz is often called upon to speak at various transportation and planning industry conferences.
Mr. Goetz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (Transportation) from Pennsylvania State University, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
F. James Prisk, P.E.
Principal/Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Prisk is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management and operation of all TA offices. As his experience in the transportation field is quite broad, having completed many engineering design and environmental projects for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC), West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), in addition to other public clients, private clients, and consultants, Mr. Prisk also manages major design projects.
Prior to being named COO in 2010, Mr. Prisk was Senior Manager of TA’s Design Services group, in which he was responsible for management of design projects, staff workload distribution, and professional development of engineering staff. Prior to joining TA in 2003, he was an Assistant Vice President and branch office manager for a regional civil and environmental engineering firm, where he was employed for over 13 years.
Mr. Prisk holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown’s Civil Engineering Technology program and is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Ohio.
Regis J. Aul, P.E.
Mr. Aul, who joined TA in 1992 to establish the firm’s highway design services group, has over 35 years of experience with nearly all facets of transportation design. He continues to be responsible for the firm’s highway and roadway design services, including directing and supervising design teams, overall quality assurance, and project management for major design projects. He was instrumental in developing TA’s client/agency-focused approach to design management and deliverables.
Prior to joining TA, Mr. Aul was employed by the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works, Bureau of Engineering, and Wilbur Smith Associates, where he gained valuable design experience, as well as directing and performing various levels of inspection for nearly 1,000 bridges in Pennsylvania and New York.
Mr. Aul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio.
Cynthia A. Jampole, P.E.
Principal/Transportation Planning and Parking Services
An original employee of TA, Ms. Jampole has over 30 years of experience in traffic planning and engineering as well as parking, comprehensive, and master planning studies. Ms. Jampole manages the firm’s parking, transportation and multimodal planning services sector. Ms. Jampole has performed traffic and parking studies for nearly all types of developments including medical and educational institutions, event centers, residential neighborhoods, shopping centers and districts, commercial office parks, and parking garages.

She also has extensive experience with Master Plan studies and updates for Universities, Colleges, and Hospitals.
Ms. Jampole holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Ohio. She is a fellow of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and her professional affiliations include the Pennsylvania Parking Association (PPA), the University of Pittsburgh Civil Engineering Alumni Club (Past President), and the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania (ESWP).
Mark C. Szewcow, P.E.
Principal/Traffic Design Services
Mr. Szewcow began his career with TA in 1991 and currently manages the firm’s Traffic Signal and Signal System Design Services, which he has provided for a multitude of public and private clients and applications.
Having been involved with all facets of traffic engineering and having managed signal and system design services since 2000, his familiarity with industry standards and innovation are key to identifying appropriate solutions for our clients. Mr. Szewcow’s efforts have won the Pennsylvania Partnership for Higher Quality Award given by the Associated Pennsylvania Constructors, and the FHWA Excellence in Design Award for Intelligent Transportation Systems given by the Federal Highway Administration.
Mr. Szewcow holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
