Trans Associates was part of a multi-discliplinary team retained by the City of Harrisburg to complete a downtown assessment of their transit facilities and pedestrian accessibility. The transit system was experiencing a decrease in ridership. Lack of bus stop amenities as well as locations of stops and frequency of stops were perceived to be a factor in declining ridership. The goal of the project was to provide improved bus stop quality and accessibility.
Trans Associates conducted data collection and analysis for all stops within the City’s study area and assisted with conceptual designs for improvements. The project involved the community extensively through workshops, meetings and surveys to garner various opinions and concerns.
