1) Highway Engineer

Trans Associates has an opening for an experienced civil roadway designer with 3-5 years of experience in roadway design. Trans Associates is a PAUCP DBE and WBENC-Certified WBE firm offering big opportunities for gaining experience in both the public and private sectors. How are we different from other engineering firms?
We work on projects that are varied, multi-disciplined and challenging with lots of coordination with staff and project teams. PLUS, you will get to see your projects built within an accelerated period of time since many of our projects involve the design of improvements to intersections, traffic signals and roadways.

Qualifications:

  • Min. 4 years of civil engineering design experience
  • B.S. Civil Engineering
  • E.I.T., PE preferred
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Understanding of PennDOT items, quantities and specifications
  • Proficient us of MicroStation and OpenRoads
  • Demonstrate competent use of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic with an ability to get things done

Responsibilities include:

  • Computer-aided drafting in Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads including cross-sections for roadways, contour grading and drainage plans, erosion and sedimentation control plans, etc.
  • Responsible for creating base mapping and Digital Terrain Modeling from survey data.
  • Responsible for digital file conversion, or coordination of such, from GIS, AutoCAD, and other software to MicroStation format.
  • Responsible for production of conceptual drawings and presentation materials for various meetings and project presentations.

A qualified Associate Designer’s responsibilities include:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  4 years of experience and a B.S. in Civil Engineering or a related Associates Degree.

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:  Current driver’s license

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:  Ability to effectively communicate via email, Microsoft Teams and phone.

COMPUTER SKILLS:  Knowledge of Bentley Microstation and OpenRoads, AutoCAD, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office products.

OTHER SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:  Organizational skills; Ability to manage multiple tasks.
