Trans Associates assisted Hampton Township with a DCNR grant application for Community Conservation Partnership Program funds in the fall of 2021. The township was subsequently awarded $219,500.00 for the completion of the Loop Trail at the Township’s community park.
Design of the trail got underway in late spring 2022 and features a 10 foot wide crushed limestone surface designed to meet ADA standards for slope and surface. Other ADA features of the design included additional ADA parking spaces, a pathway from a parking area to an adjacent pavilion, and ADA compliant benches.
Trans Associates prepared an NPDES environmental permit document for the trail improvements that includes stormwater/erosion and sedimentation controls and BMPs. The Erosion and Sedimentation Control Plan for the project was based on Pennsylvania DEP Stormwater Best Management Practices Manual and the Pennsylvania DEP Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control Program Manual. Trees were added adjacent to the benches to provide shade.
The challenge in Phase 2 was cost escalation and Trans Associates worked hard to optimize the project configuration, layout and overall design to contain cost. There was also a significant amount of administrative coordination with the DCNR, all of which was intended to help create the best possible project outcome and oversight of expenditures.
The project bid in spring 2023 with substantial completion in December 2023.
